Palatine Gymnastics - The Parents Club

Mission Statement: "Our mission is to provide financial support for the Palatine Gymnastics Club girl's team through fundraising and annual membership fees. These funds are intended to uphold and enhance the quality of our coaching, to educate our coaches and gymnasts, to provide state-of-the-art equipment for our gymnastics facility, and to promote friendships among team members and their families. We are dedicated to the growth and success of the Palatine Gymnastics Club, which will continue its longstanding tradition of being the most highly rated club of its kind."

All parents of team gymnasts are voting members of the Parents' Club. The Parents' Club leadership is slated and elected in the spring. The Parents' Club officers deal directly with the Gymnastics Coordinator. Meetings are generally held on the first or second Thursday of every month at Community Center. The parents are requested to attend all of these meetings for the Club to continue its success. The first meeting of the year and the last meeting of the year are MANDATORY MEETINGS. The purpose of the Parents' Club is to provide support for all team activities. Your daughter is a gymnast in the Palatine Gymnastics Club. As a voting member of the Parents' Club, each parent assumes the responsibility of being informed of Club policies and activities, as well as volunteering to promote successful team activities.

The Parents' Club is a tax-exempt, non-profit organization that has specific fixed operating costs. The Parents' Club raises funds to support the coaches and the teams during their competitive seasons. These expenses include:
1) coaches' salaries and travel expenses for all meets up to and including the state, and regional meets; 2) coaches' clinics and seminars; 3) judges' fees and travel expenses; 4) awards for home meets; 5) awards and recognition gifts for gymnasts and coaches.

Parents' Club funds are also used to purchase equipment. Funds are raised through the yearly membership fee, leotard and merchandise sales, sale of ads for meets and show programs, and hosting of home meets.

Fundraising is an important aspect of the club's responsibility and focus. In order to maintain our tax-exempt status, there are specific IRS regulations that we must carefully abide by for generating and dispersing funds. First, our fundraising activities must be related to our mission. Second, no individual members or their families or businesses may profit as a result of our fundraising activities, and no profits may be dispersed to Parents' Club members.
